Iranian finished steel production rose 16% year-over-year in three months to June 21, or the first quarter of the Iranian year, to 5.27 million tonnes, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA).
Hot-rolled steel production increased 9% to 2.29 million tonnes, while rebar production rose 21% to 2.06 million tonnes. Production of cold rolled steel coils and coated coils increased by 15% and 23%, respectively, to 650,000 tonnes and 428,000 tonnes. Production increased by 22% to 301,000 tons.
Meanwhile, the production of semi-finished products increased by 5% in three months to 6.64 million tons. This happened despite a drop in slab production by -8% to 2.7 million tonnes and was due to an increase in billet production by 17% to 3.94 million tonnes.
The direct reduction in iron production increased 10% in the quarter to 7.27 million tonnes.
According to the Iranian Organization for the Development and Reconstruction of Mines and Mines (Imidro), iron ore concentrate output in the quarter increased by 4% to 12.21 million tonnes.
