ArcelorMittal Italia announced that it has taken note of the decision of the Taranto court directed to ILVA to refuse to operate the blast furnace. The statement said that "ArcelorMittal, the manager of the metallurgical plant, is not a party to the proceedings, but is in any event investigating the consequences that this decision may have on the operation of the Taranto plant."
The statement said that “The company has prepared a schedule for the closure of Blast Furnace 2 upon request. However, ArcelorMittal hopes that an alternative solution will be found, as blast furnace 2 operation is integral to the sustainability of the Taranto site. ”
