ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih accused of tax evasion in the amount of 9 billion hryvnia

The office of large taxpayers completed the audit of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, which began on May 14, 2019, the head of the Office Yevgeny Bambizov said at a meeting with journalists in Kiev, and added that the amount of claims against the largest investor in Ukraine is 9 billion hryvnia.

“As of today, a massive audit of the enterprise has been completed, we are defining claims of 9 billion hryvnia,” he said at a meeting with journalists in Kiev on Wednesday.

According to Bambizov, the main amount is associated with the payment of rent for the use of mineral resources, the understatement of rent for land. In addition, among the claims of the Office - work with enterprises that have signs of fictitious.

"We are ready to transfer these materials to law enforcement agencies," said the head of the Office.

"On this issue, we actively cooperated with the Security Service of Ukraine, they provided us with information on rent and land tax, and we have already analyzed it and came to the final result," Bambizov added.

The problems of the former "Krivorozhstal", sold in October 2005 to the metallurgical holding Mittal Steel Germany GmbH for a record $ 4.8 billion for independent Ukraine, began immediately after the announcement of the results of the presidential elections.

On July 12, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a visit to Krivoy Rog, accused the ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih iron and steel works for the poor ecology of the city. A few days after that, it became known about the initiation of a case against the enterprise under the article "ecocide".

On July 20, the Security Service came with a search to the metallurgical plant and drew up a protocol on the overstatement of the radiation level.

Then the Ukrainian oligarch Igor Kolomoisky proposed to nationalize Kryvorizhstal due to the fact that the owners of the mining and metallurgical plant, in his opinion, do not care about the environment and thereby provoke an increase in cancer diseases.

On September 3, the Security Service of Ukraine again came to ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih to inspect coke production facilities. Representatives of the SBU and environmentalists inspected the production area and received samples from 42 stationary sources of emissions from coke-chemical production workshops.
