Metalloinvest has implemented a large-scale project to modernize the thermal power plant at Ural Steel. Andrey Varichev, CEO of the management company Metalloinvest, said that “The modernization of an independent generator using modern technologies is an important part of a comprehensive program for the development of production at Ural Steel. New equipment with a high I /O ratio will improve energy efficiency in the enterprise. This will reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, as well as reduce equipment maintenance costs. ”
Part of the Ural Steel thermal power plant project provides for the construction of a new complex with two medium-pressure boilers, each with a capacity of 220 tons of steam per hour. The commissioning of the boilers is scheduled for the second half of 2020. Reconstruction of water treatment plant No. 3 and installation of a unique automated installation for chemical water purification from salts continues. This allows the production of 300 tons of distilled water per hour, which is required for the continuous operation of the boilers at high pressure. Commissioning of the equipment is scheduled for December 2020.
In April 2019, the electrical equipment in the connection transformer # 2 was successfully replaced. Communication transformer # 3 will also be replaced.
Reconstruction of the thermal power plant with the subsequent replacement of five high-pressure boilers, turbine generators and air compressors will take place in the near future.
