NLMK's two subsidiaries in Denmark and Belgium continue to implement plans to improve their offerings to the end user.
In Denmark, NLMK DanSteel of Frederiksvaerk launches its own steel service center, while in Belgium, NLMK La Louviére, a leading manufacturer of flat steel coils, is spending € 150 million to modernize its hot rolling mill to expand thinner production. , more durable and environmentally friendly steel.
NLMK DanSteel's goal is to launch its own steel service center to provide customers across Europe with a wide range of oxygen cutting operations and other in-demand services. According to the company, its customers already enjoy a one-stop shop and a fast approach from idea - a team of CAD professionals create processing files from drawings - to sorting in place and on-time door-to-door delivery of prefabricated panels by sea, rail or road across Europe.
In Belgium, NLMK La Louviére has started the renovation of its hot strip mill. This investment is part of NLMK Group's 2022 strategy and will increase production from 1.7 million tonnes to 2.2 million tonnes by 2022, which will give the company a larger share of the HRC market in the European Union.
The modernization includes the installation of a state-of-the-art automation system, three new and three modernized rolling mill stands, new drives and motors, as well as a new exit table and upgraded cooling and water supply systems.
The first phase of the transformation of the plant will be completed in early 2020, and by 2021 it will be completed.
Speaking about the NLMK La Louviére renovation, Ben de Vos, CEO of NLMK International commented: "This innovative project is the largest investment in our La Louviére site and its clients in decades and will be the cornerstone of its further development."
