Currently, Iran's total crude steel production is about 62% of the total in the Middle East.
Reza Rahmani, Iran's Minister of Industry, Mines and Business, noted that Iran continues to seek to further increase its share of steel production in the Middle East.
Last year, global steel capacity growth was around 3.5%, but Iran gained 6.5%, nearly double the average.
Moreover, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also announced on November 11 that the construction of a new steel plant in Baft had been completed.
The total aggregate steelmaking capacity for crude steel in Iran entered the top ten countries in the world with 1.38% of the total global market in 2018.
