Thyssenkrupp hopes to win contracts for a planned plant that Tesla has decided to build near Berlin. Thyssenkrupp board member Klaus Keisberg said the company is in talks to introduce certain services and supplies of rolled metal products.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced a few weeks ago that he would set up an electric vehicle plant in the Grünheide region. The construction of the Tesla gigafactory should begin in the spring of 2020. It is expected that 100,000 vehicles will roll off the assembly line from 2021, and from then on they will increasingly compete with manufacturers in Germany, who are even more focusing their portfolio on this market segment.
