According to the forecast of the China Metallurgy Association, made a few days ago, steel production as a whole this year could be about 980 million tons, an increase of 7% year on year.
In the first 10 months of this year, total crude steel production in China was about 830 million tons, an increase of 7.4% year on year.
Moreover, total pig iron production for the same period was about 680 million tonnes, an increase of 5.4% year on year.
China's total steel production in the first 10 months of the year was around 1 billion tonnes, up nearly 10% year on year.
As the cost of the material rose and increased again, the steelmaker's profit margins came under pressure, with the overall sales margin averaging less than 5%, lower than last year.
