Zaporizhstal was recognized as the "Leader of Eco-Investments" in the all-Ukrainian rating "Ecotransformation-2019"

On December 16, 2019, an all-Ukrainian business forum "Ecotransformation-2019" of enterprises and companies implementing projects to reduce the negative impact on the environment was held in Kiev. Zaporizhstal received the highest award in the category "Leader of Eco-Investments-2019" for the implementation of the investment program for the environmental modernization of production over the past 7 years.

Since 2012, Zaporizhstal has invested about UAH 11 billion in green investments in the environmental modernization of production.

Zaporizhstal completely modernized the sinter plant, equipping each of the six sintering machines of the plant with modern bag filters and an online monitoring system for exhaust gases and dust emissions. This solution allowed to reduce dust emissions by 90%, sulfur - by 50%. In addition, three of the four blast furnaces in the process of complex reconstructions received effective aspiration units, which provide cleaning of exhaust gases from dust up to 20 mg per cubic meter.

The only high-tech cold-rolled pickling line in Ukraine operates in a completely closed cycle, which excludes the discharge of neutralized water from the rolling stock into the Dnieper. In addition, the plant built new fan cooling towers, which allow to reduce the intake and, as a result, the discharge of water into the Dnieper and provide the circulating cycle of the enterprise with cooled water. The new complex for interception of storm water "Zaporizhstal", put into operation in 2019, allows to reduce the discharge of 5 million cubic meters of wastewater, which was previously discharged into the Dnieper, and send them back to production.
