The robot processes business orders in LIBERTY Ostrava

Robot Process Automation is the official name of the new technology assistant that assists in the sales coordination and order management department at LIBERTY Ostrava. However, this is not a human figure that you would see sitting at a computer, but special software. The Ostrava Mill continues to automate its processes, and in addition to production processes, the Mill is also introducing modern management technologies. The software robot was tested in trace mode and will be put into full operation after additional definition of the necessary processes. Also, thanks to this gadget, employees from the order administration department will be able to engage in more creative activities.

In practice, a worker from the sales coordination and order management department sends orders to the robot's email. The robot processes the order content in a spreadsheet attachment and therefore opens the SAP system and logs into it.

Individual tasks take several minutes for the robot. It handles work that can be defined in steps, and where information processing and document handling follow a well-defined logic very smoothly, quickly and flawlessly. Moreover, it is capable of multitasking, which is sometimes difficult for people. On the other hand, non-standard situations are something that a robot cannot cope with. He can only recognize them and therefore sends his colleague by email with a notification.

“Software robots can help people move to more creative work; they will not leave anyone without work. On the contrary, they will help reduce boring and routine operations that are usually tedious but require a lot of concentration. Our specialists are going to work on the future development and expansion of the field of application of the robot. This will ensure that it is "trained" by people who know how the business and its processes work. Thus, we will see a significant increase in operational efficiency, ”adds Miroslav Hible, Head of Automation at LIBERTY Ostrava.
