Following the results of the work of metallurgical enterprises in April 2020, Ukraine reduced steel production by 30.9% compared to the same period in 2019 - to 1.339 million tons, dropping from 12th to 15th place, and after four months dropped from 11 13th position in the ranking of 64 countries - the world's main producers of these products, compiled by the World Steel Association (Worldsteel).
In April, a drop in steel production by April 2019 was recorded in most of the top ten countries, except for China and Vietnam. At the same time, the largest decrease in steel production was recorded in India - by 65.2%.
The top ten steel-producing countries in April are as follows: China (85.033 million tons, an increase of 0.2%), Japan (6.617 million tons, a drop of 23.5%), South Korea (5.5 million tons, "-" 8.4%), the USA (4.968 million tons, a drop of 32.5%), Russia (4.7 million tons, "-" 19.4%), India (3.137 million tons, a drop of 65, 2%), Germany (3 million tons, "-" 10.7%), Turkey (2.245 million tons, a decrease of 26.3%, Vietnam (1.946 million tons, an increase of 4.2%) and Brazil (1.811 million tons tons, a 39% drop).
This is followed by Iran (1.790 million tons, a decrease of 17.8%), Taiwan (China, 1.650 million tons, "minus" 16.3%), Mexico (1.450 million tons, a decline of 12.1%), Italy (1.350 mln tons, a drop of 30.7%) and Ukraine (1.339 mln tons, "minus" 30.9%).
In April, 64 countries produced 137.098 million tons of steel, which is 13% lower than in April 2019.
