BelTA reported that sales of metal products through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange increased by 13%, including thanks to the supply of steel from the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant. Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) Roman Yaniv said: “In January-May, 12,500 tons of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, scrap and waste products worth 20.4 million BYN were sold through the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. The export volume increased by 45% in physical terms and by 13% in value terms ”.
The main markets for Belarusian steel products were Canada, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. According to BUCE, the valves of the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant, which have been supplied abroad through the exchange platform since December 2019, made a significant contribution to the export figures.
Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange held its first trading in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to help Belarusian enterprises export their products and foreign companies to enter the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal products, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer products.
