Employees at Tata Steel's Dutch plant in Ijmeiden have put a strike on hold after the company announced it was willing to negotiate. Union CNV said workers gave Tata two days to offer a proposal to meet their demands after the company invited unions to return to the negotiating table. CNV spokesman Peter Boseken said: "If there is no decision by 13:00 on Friday, action will resume immediately."
Dutch Tata employees have been on strike since June 10 over planned job cuts. Late last week, production at the Ijmeiden plant was halted for 24 hours as workers cut off supplies of iron ore to two blast furnaces on site.
