As part of its further strategic development of Materials as a Service, Thyssenkrupp Materials Services is opening up new opportunities and investing in an innovative business model: for the joint venture, the company acquired Mantro, an experienced construction company. Together with a Munich-based company, the materials specialists Thyssenkrupp Group founded “MT Industry Recycling GmbH” on June 2, 2020 to recycle steel. The joint venture seeks to ensure that scrap steel is recycled more efficiently into manufacturing processes.
In the future, customers such as steel mills and foundries will be able to purchase pure steel scrap directly from mt industry recycling GmbH. The intermediate step through the scrap dealer is no longer necessary. Through a streamlined process, customers will benefit from significantly lower costs and therefore lower purchase prices. The purity of the material also allows them to melt and recycle scrap without loss of quality. In addition, efficient logistics processes promise to make a positive contribution to improving the sustainability of processing processes.
With a new joint venture, thyssenkrupp Materials Services is systematically expanding its portfolio of services in line with its Materials as a Service strategy. The goal is to intensify customer relationships and promote integration across all customer supply chains. The joint venture between thyssenkrupp Materials Services and mantro brings together the best of both worlds: Customers can benefit from Thyssenkrupp's materials experts' decades of experience in materials science. As an expert in creating innovative companies with industrial partners, Mantro ensures optimal organizational structure and accelerates development.
