Tata Steel announced the temporary closure of its Jamadoba coal mine after a mine manager tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday evening. Tata Steel spokesman Rajesh Thakur said: “Mining operations have been halted as a precautionary measure to stop the spread of the coronavirus and clean up at the coal mine and the surrounding area. All mine employees and assistants to the mine manager were sent for necessary health checks in accordance with government protocol. ”
The mine manager is currently at Tata General Hospital in Jamshedpur. The mine manager was housed at Pit # 2 of the Jamadoba mine, which is next to the CEO's office.
