Hyundai Steel said it will accelerate the development of high-strength steel materials to reach the top position in the global automotive market. The company expects to obtain quality certifications from car manufacturers in Europe and China in order to increase its competitiveness around the world. The company plans to supply one million tons of steel to the world's largest automakers.
In 2019, Hyundai Steel developed 218 ultra-high strength steels and received certifications from 167 automakers worldwide. The company produced hot rolled steel for the best-selling Hyundai Motor Avante sedan model, as well as high-strength 1.5 GPa steel for auto parts essential to vehicle safety.
