Karelsky Okatysh, a division of PJSC Severstal and a leading Russian iron ore mining and processing plant, has supplied iron ore pellets to Brazil for the first time in its history. More than 100,000 tonnes are supplied to Companhia Siderurgica Nacional, the largest fully integrated steel producer in Brazil.
The pellets have a long way to go to achieve their goal. From Kostomuksha the products are sent to the Finnish port of Kokkola, and from there to the port of Sepetiba for unloading in Rio de Janeiro. Previously, the most distant export destinations for Karelian pellets were the UAE, Trinidad and Tobago.
