In recent weeks, offers from India have risen to € 490 /t (USD 579) for HRCs from Southern Europe. One trader notes that Turkish sources may sell at € 475-485 a tonne francs, but adds that the risk that anti-dumping measures will be confirmed soon is deterring buyers.
Since June, prices for imported coils have risen by almost € 100 per tonne, further supporting the price increases incurred by domestic European suppliers.
Currently, most traders wait before placing new orders after having ordered large volumes before August. However, in the import market it was heard that one big manager said;
“The market is clearly recovering,” the trader notes. “I can confirm that service centers in the south of Europe are looking for volumes due to the difficulties in finding availability in domestic factories. In Italy, for example, one supplier was forced to further cut production in the summer and the material shortages are palpable. "
