The Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant of the Mechel Group received four new drawing mills with a total cost of 220 million rubles. This equipment was purchased by the plant as part of the modernization of the cable-rope production. The mills are scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2021. Drawing mills of the Italian company Mario Frigerio SpA, one of the oldest European manufacturers of technological equipment for steel-making and hardware plants, will be installed in one of the wire shops of the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant. They will produce ropes and spring wires.
The new mills are equipped with a mechanical wire rod descaling system. This will make it possible to abandon the technology of chemical descaling. Carrying capacity of each machine is up to 13,000 tons.
The investment project is being implemented with the support of the Russian Industrial Development Fund. Its cost is 1.5 billion rubles, half of which was provided by the Fund in the form of a soft loan. The modernization of production should be completed by December 2023. This will allow the plant to create high-performance jobs using the best available technologies, improve product quality, increase production and solve environmental problems facing the Beloretsk Metallurgical Plant today.
