The monthly production data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) indicates a marked increase in crude steel production in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) region in November this year. The total production of crude steel in the first eleven months of this year was 90.887 million tonnes, down 1.2% from the previous year. From January to November 2019, steel production in the region amounted to 91.953 million tonnes. All countries except Uzbekistan and Moldova reported a decline in production compared to the same period last year.
The largest steel producers in the CIS region in January-November 2020 were Russia (65.182 million tons), Ukraine (18.710 million tons) and Kazakhstan (3.425 million tons).
