According to the World Steel Organization Worldsteel, in January 2021 metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world produced 119.960 million tons of pig iron, of which 112.14 million tons were produced by the blast furnace method and 7.82 million tons by the direct reduction method. This is 4.76% higher than in January 2020.
The first place, as before, is occupied by China with production in January 2021 of 73.21 million tons of pig iron, which is 7.72% more than in January last year. The share of China's pig iron in world production in January 2021 is 61.0%.
At the end of January 2021, Ukraine produced 1.82 million tons, which is 5.2% higher compared to January 2020, and ranks 10th among 38 countries that produce pig iron.
World crude steel production in January 2021 is 162.920 million tons, which is 4.76% higher than in January 2020.
The leader here is also the People's Republic of China, melted 90,240,000 tons, which is 6.81% more than in January 2020 (84,490,000 tons). The PRC's share in world steel production is 55.4%.
Ukraine (1,840,000 tons or 99.8% compared to January 2020) ranks 12th among 62 steel-producing countries.
