Production of rolled metal in Ukraine in January-February 2021

In January-February 2021, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 3.15 million tons of rolled metal (100.3% compared to the same period in 2020), of which, according to V.S.K. GROUP, about 2,490,000 tons, or 79.2%, were exported. In the same period in 2020, the share of exports was about 84.7% (2,660,000 tons with a total production of 3,140,000 tons of rolled metal).

The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries for two months of 2021 is 48.84%, which is slightly lower than the indicator for the period January-February 2020 (50.34%). The share of flat products in export deliveries for two months of 2021 is commensurately higher than the indicator for the same period in 2020 (35.97% and 30.55%, respectively). The share of long products in export deliveries for two months in 2021 is noticeably inferior to the indicator for the same period in 2020 (15.20% in 2021, compared to 19.11% in 2020).

In January-February 2021, the capacity of the domestic market was 766.0 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 110.0 thousand tons or 14.4% were imports. In the same period in 2020, the capacity of the domestic market was 645.3 thousand tons, of which 163.3 thousand tons or 25.3% were imported. Thus, for two months of 2021, an increase in the capacity of the domestic market relative to January-February 2020 by 18.7% is observed, with a simultaneous reduction in the share of the import component by 10.95%.

The structure of imports for two months of 2021 is characterized by the domination of flat steel over long products (54.55% and 42.82%, respectively; in January-February 2020, on the contrary, there was a dominance of long products over flat products (54.87% and 42, respectively). 56%).

The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-February 2021, according to V.S.K. GROUP, are the countries of the European Union (29.9%), the rest of Europe (23.5%) and the countries of the Middle East (9.9%) ...

Among metallurgical importers for two months of 2021, the CIS ranks first (53.3%), the EU-27 ranks second (24.9%), and Asian countries rank third (11.6%).
