Steel production in Ukraine decreased by 2% in February 2021. The metallurgical enterprises of the country produced 1.675 million steel, which is 2% less than in the previous year.
In the ranking of the World Association of Steel Producers from 64 countries, Ukraine is 12th place. In February, an increase in steel production by February 2020 was recorded among the leading countries of the top ten, with the exception of India, Japan, the USA, the Russian Federation and Germany.
According to the results of February-2021, the top ten steel-producing countries were formed as follows:
China (83.046 million tons, an increase of 10.9% compared to February 2020),
India (9.146 million tons, down 3.1%),
Japan (7.472 million tons, down 5.6%),
USA (6.298 million tons, a drop of 10.9%),
RF (5.730 million tons, a decrease of 1.3%),
South Korea (5.483 million tons, plus 1.2%),
Germany (3.097 million tons, a decrease of 10.4%),
Turkey (3.020 million tons, an increase of 5.9%),
Brazil (2.845 million tons, an increase of 3.8%)
Iran (2.3 million tons, an increase of 11.5%).
It is followed by Italy (2.074 million tons, an increase of 1.6%), Ukraine (1.675 million tons, a drop of 2%), Taiwan (1.625 million tons, a decrease of 7.1%), Vietnam (1.580 million tons, an increase of 17.9%) and Mexico (1.410 million tons, plus 0.2%).
At the end of February 2021, global steel production increased by 4.1% compared to the same month in 2029 - up to 150.168 million tons.
