The Turkish Steel Exporters Association (CIB) has indicated that the EU should not extend the protection measures for steel imports. Otherwise, it would lead to a reduction in supply and an increase in prices.
The CIB indicated that Trump's Section 232 tariffs caused a sharp rise in domestic steel prices in the United States. Therefore, the EU should not continue to apply protective measures.
The protective measures have been in effect for three years and will expire on June 30 this year. The European Commission is considering expanding the protective measures to 26 steel products and will announce the results on 30 June.
