The Russian Scrap Association Ruslom expressed its disapproval of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) project to include scrap in the list of prohibited for export, stating that there is no serious shortage of scrap in the Russian market and in the EAEU, and this policy could bring a negative impact on scrap and the steel industry.
The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) held a meeting last week at which it was decided to implement the export ban from July 15, 2021 to January 15, 2022, of which scrap metal under code 7204 HS was proposed to be included in the export ban list.
