They wanted to achieve the medium-term goal through plans such as technological transformation of production facilities and better technologies. This measure is likely to reduce carbon emissions per tonne of steel from 2,063 tonnes at the end of 2020 to 1,857 tonnes in 2030.
Severstal's board of directors achieved a short-term carbon emissions target last year. Carbon emissions per tonne of steel will fall by 3% in 2023, dropping to 2.001 tonnes from 2.063 tonnes in 2020.
