According to statistics from the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global crude steel production from 64 countries represented by worldsteel was 167.9 million tonnes, up 11.6% from the same month a year ago.
During this period, China remained the world's largest producer with total production of 93.9 million tonnes, up 1.5% from a year earlier.
Japan came in second with 8.1 million tons, up 44.6% from a year earlier; it was followed by the United States with 7.1 million tonnes, an increase of 51.1% year on year. Russia and South Korea ranked fourth and fifth with 6.4 million tonnes and 6 million tonnes, respectively.
