Results of production of MMC of Ukraine for 7 months of 2021

Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises produced 11,330,000 tons of rolled metal (106.38% compared to the same period in 2020), of which about 9060000 tons, or 80.0%, were exported. In the same period in 2020, the share of exports was about 82.2% (8,750,000 tons with a total production of 10,650,000 tons of rolled metal).

The share of semi-finished products in export deliveries for 7 months of 2021 is 46.09%, which is lower than the indicator for the same period in 2020 (49.31%). The volume of flat products in export deliveries for 7 months of 2021 is noticeably higher than in January-July 2020 (37.69% and 32.71%, respectively). The share of long products in export deliveries for 7 months of 2021 is inferior to the indicator for the same period in 2020 (16.22% in 2021, compared to 17.97% in 2020).

In January-July 2021, the capacity of the domestic market was 2840.3 thousand tons of rolled metal, of which 5773 thousand tons, or 20.33%, accounted for imports. In the same period in 2020, the capacity of the domestic market was 2539.4 thousand tons, of which 644.4 thousand tons or 25.38% were imported. Thus, for 7 months of 2021, there is an increase in the capacity of the domestic market relative to January-July 2020 by 11.85%, with a simultaneous reduction in the share of the import component by 5.05%.

The structure of imports in January-July 2021 is characterized by a significant predominance of flat products over long products (55.14% and 42.65%, respectively); in the same period of 2020, the dominance of flat products over long products was practically commensurate from 2021 (54.81% and 43.78%, respectively).

The main export markets of Ukrainian metal products in January-July 2021 are the countries of the European Union (33.7%), the rest of Europe (21.5%) and the countries of South America (10.5%).

Among metallurgical importers for 7 months of 2021, the first place is occupied by the CIS (39.7%), the second is the EU-27 (22.4%), and the third is the rest of Europe (19.4%).
