The competition consists of two stages - regional and all-Ukrainian - and lasts two years. Selection for the competition in the regions will take place in October-November this year, and the final at the national level in April-May 2022.
This year, the competition will be held in 18 competencies, of which 12 are for students institutions of vocational education and skilled workers and six - for schoolchildren. Test Projects for most competencies are already available at worldskillsukraine.org. The essence of the tasks is for the participants to demonstrate their practical skills at the set time.
Metinvest Group traditionally sponsors core competencies and supports competitions among turners, locksmiths, electricians, welders, locomotive driver assistants, crane drivers, fireproofers .
This year Metinvest initiated additional projects and events for experts, contestants, teachers and schoolchildren, which will help popularize technical professions and raise vocational education standards.
In particular, since November From 2021 to May 2022, training will take place at the WorldSkills Ukraine Academy, within the framework of which WorldSkills International experts will conduct trainings for Ukrainian specialists on international standards for holding competitions and assessing the competencies of participants. At the same time, teachers of vocational education institutions in Mariupol, Zaporozhye and Kryvyi Rih will be able to improve their qualifications at Metinvest enterprises and participate in conferences.
Metinvest will also help the national teams prepare for the competition. Starting in September this year, participants of regional competitions will have master classes on performing competition tasks, excursions to enterprises and meetings with top managers of the Group.
Schoolchildren of the 8th and 9th grades will be able to participate in the Steel Craft career guidance program ... These are stations that simulate production tasks for technicians. Participants will be offered to go through quests that allow them to try themselves in a working profession. The program will start in October 2021 and will be implemented in Mariupol, Zaporozhye and Kryvyi Rih.

Worldskills Ukraine is a part of the international competition Worldskills International, which is called the Olympic Games for students and employees aged 18-22.
The organizers of the competition are the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine , Institute for the Modernization of Education Content, Federation of Employers of Ukraine with the support of the Federation of Metallurgists of Ukraine and the association "Ukrmetallurgprom".
Association Worldskills International was founded in 1946. This is the largest competition in the world: the competition is held in 85 countries. Ukraine became a member of Worldskills International in 2016.
