In the converter shop of the Azovstal metallurgical plant of Metinvest Group, the modernization of drying and heating stands for steel-pouring ladles has started. The subdivision will soon receive the first batch of equipment - a fan and a gas burner from Ukrainian manufacturers for updating drying and heating stands for ladles with a capacity of 350 tons. After the implementation of all measures, natural gas consumption will decrease by 20%.
The technical solution for the modernization of stands for drying and heating of steel-pouring ladles at the Azovstal steel plant provides for a phased upgrade of stands No. 1-6 with the replacement of existing burners with modern energy efficient and environmentally friendly ones. The converter shop is already awaiting the delivery of the first equipment for stand 4.
After receiving the fan and gas burner, dismantling of the old equipment of the stand and installation of the new one will begin. Two-wire high-speed partial premix burners will be installed, in which gas will be consumed more efficiently and economically.
Drying and heating stands for steel-pouring ladles will be equipped with an automatic quality and safety control system that will calculate and plan resource consumption. Also, they will technically re-equip bench smoke removal systems with the installation of new smoke exhausters.
“The Azovstal iron and steel works continue to implement energy-efficient measures to reduce the consumption of natural resources. Thus, the updated stands for drying and heating steel-pouring ladles will automatically maintain the set temperature and ensure efficient consumption of resources. In particular, it will reduce the consumption of natural gas by 20 percent, "said Mikhail Skorodumov, Head of the Energy Efficiency Department of the Chief Power Engineer of the Azovstal Metallurgical Plant of Metinvest Group.
