Weekly U.S. crude steel production saw a notable increase of 21.9% for the week ending September 18, 2021, up from the same week in 2020. This is in line with the latest weekly domestic production statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute. (AISI).
Weekly US crude steel production was 1.874 million tonnes. The utilization rate of the production capacity of the domestic plant was 84.9%. It should be noted that production was only 1.537 million tonnes with a much lower capacity utilization rate of 68.6% during the corresponding week a year earlier. However, weekly production of crude steel fell slightly over the week by 0.4%. For the week ended September 11, 2021, production was 1,882 million tonnes.
Cumulative adjusted US crude steel production from the beginning of the year to date was 67.660 million tonnes for the week ended September 18, 2021. This is 20.2% more than in the same period of 2020, when the volume of production was 56.304 million tons. Capacity utilization The indicator also recorded a significant jump from 66.8% to 80.9% per year.
