Olga Simakov has been working in the field of environmental protection for more than 15 years, in particular, she performed the duties of the head of the ecology department of DTEK and participated in projects aimed at supporting reforms in the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine , was an expert on the projects of the European Union and the United Nations Development Program. Olga supported projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions under the Kyoto Protocol. Participated in consulting projects in the field of climate change, as well as in carbon market research.
In 2006, she graduated from the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy" with a master's degree in Ecology and Environmental Protection.
The new appointment confirms ArcelorMittal's overall commitment to sustainable development and carbon footprint reduction. The Environmental Ombudsman will report to Zhanbek Esmakhanov, Director of the Department for Labor Protection, Industrial Safety and Environment of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih. Liana Maksimenko, formerly Director of the Environmental Protection Department, retired in September this year after 18 years of work at the enterprise and the successful implementation of many environmental projects that formed the basis of the current eco-modernization of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih.
