German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp is considering a carbon surcharge.
The company set a carbon price of € 45.93 per tonne and said it produces 2.1 tonnes of carbon dioxide for every tonne of crude steel. A cost of € 96.45 per tonne for every tonne of crude steel will be produced, ThyssenKrupp will have to buy back 20% of its emissions and pass the cost of € 19.29 per tonne to its customers.
