British Steel's Special Profile has announced that it will build a new service center at its site in Skinningrove, North Yorkshire. Long products manufacturer Elbe-Stahlwerke Feralpi plans to increase production capacity at its Ries site in Germany to 1.2 million tonnes per year. This will be achieved through the installation of a second rolling mill at the site.

ThyssenKrupp has ordered a new electrical steel strip annealing and coating line to be installed at its Bochum site. When commissioned in 2024, the plant will be capable of processing up to 200,000 tonnes of grain-free electrical strip per year. The new 50-tonne AOD converter has been commissioned at the plant of the German steel manufacturer BGH Edelstahlwerke in Freital. The installation is part of a € 15 million investment to increase production at the site by 120,000 tonnes per year.

Aperam confirms that it recently commissioned a new annealing and pickling line at its plant in Genk, Belgium. It will handle austenitic and ferritic grades. North America

Nucor has approved the construction of a new mini-flat steel mill targeting customers in the Midwest and Northeast United States. The US $ 3 billion plant is expected to have an annual production capacity of up to three million short tons upon commissioning in 2024. The downstream processing will include a cold rolling mill and two galvanizing lines. Greenfield sites in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are under consideration.

US Steel announced that it plans to build a new mini-plant with a capacity of 3 million tons per year. The company is in the process of selecting a site for a $ 3 billion facility. Construction is expected to begin in the first half of next year.

Japan's Kobe Steel intends to invest US $ 135 million to modernize the finishing mill at its Kakogawa steel mill. The new equipment will significantly increase the rigidity of the supplied material compared to the existing plant. Work is scheduled for the second half of 2023.
