According to the European Commission dated October 7, the volume of Indian flat products significantly exceeds the volume of imports to Europe, while most of the quotas for Indian flat products have already been exhausted.
The quota for Indian hot-rolled coil for October-December in the amount of 169,717 tons, the quota for cold-rolled coils in the amount of 150,937 tons and the quota for hot-dip galvanized steel of category 4a in the amount of 49,651 tons have already been exhausted.
The data showed that 34,478 tonnes of Indian hot-dip galvanized 4b metal remained out of a country-specific quota of 70,874 tonnes, while 780 tonnes were pending distribution as of 4:30 pm London time on 7 October.
With regard to the country quota of the Russian HRC, 264,169 tons remained out of a total of approximately 416,848 tons, while 15,781 tons were awaiting distribution.
For the Turkish HRC, 125,622 tonnes remained of a total quota of approximately 330,388 tonnes, while on 7 October at 16:30 London time, around 25,041 tonnes were awaiting distribution.
Indian flat products appear to have dominated EU import quotas between October and December.
Total Indian HRC imports awaiting distribution were 205,034 tonnes, which is about 121% of the total quota as of 5 October, exceeding the country-specific quota of 169,717 tonnes. Likewise, India's imports of HDG 4a on October 5 were 182,438 tons, which is approximately 367.5% of the 49,638 tons quota.
