During January-August 2021, the Russian Federation imported 3.825 million tons of rolled metal. Annual growth was 10.9%. In August, the volume amounted to 0.429 million tons, or 81.6% of the July level, according to the customs service.
Imports of ferrous metals, excluding pig iron, ferroalloys and scrap metal, amounted to 3,062.6 thousand tons in 8 months, which is 2.1% more than the result of the same period in 2020. In August, supplies amounted to 0.310 million tons, which is 23.7% less than in the previous month.
Imports of steel pipes in January-August reached 0.260 million tons, or 87.8% of the volume of the same period last year, in August - 25.2 thousand tons, or 74.9% compared to July 2021.
The share of metals and metal products in the commodity structure of imports in January-August 2021 amounted to 6.9% (in January-August 2020 - 7%). In the total structure of imports from non-CIS countries, the share of these goods amounted to 5.7% (in January-August 2020 - 6.2%), from the CIS countries - 17.5% (13.7%).
In monetary terms, the volume increased by 28.2% YoY, and physical - by 7.6%. Supplies of flat metal products made of iron and unalloyed steel increased by 10.8%, ferrous metals and products made from them - by 8.1%. Import of metal products from ferrous metals decreased by 14.5%, pipes - by 12.2%
