thyssenkrupp rothe erde has been in the Chinese market for almost 20 years and produces solid-rolled rings at its Xuzhou plant, most of which is processed into large roller bearings. They are used in wind turbines, tunnel boring machines or excavators and cranes, in short, wherever rotary motion occurs in an industrial environment and must be ensured. “We started in Xuzhou with 20,000 tons of rings per year. Thanks to continued investment, the volume has now increased to 150,000 tonnes, ”says Winfried Schulte. "With the current expansion with a fourth production line, we will be producing an additional 150,000 tonnes of rings on site from next year."
The groundbreaking ceremony took place last Tuesday in the presence of high-level representatives of politics, administration and business, as well as numerous clients and partners. The total area of the extension is 42,000 m 2, which is the area of six football fields. Production should start in a year. In addition to the construction of the new workshop, modern systems will also be installed that, on the one hand, meet the requirements of energy efficient production, but at the same time ensure the highest possible precision and quality.
“In recent years, China has become the largest wind power market,” explains Winfried Schulte. “Expanding our local manufacturing capacity not only allows us to offer our customers the highest quality products, but also means that we are actively working with them on sustainability and environmental issues.” He considers the components produced in Xuzhou as a whole. central component for solving current global challenges such as growing energy demand and climate change.
