Due to the rapid rise in steel scrap prices in Turkey, scrap exports from Ukraine are also rapidly increasing.
According to the Ukrainian Association of Secondary Metals (UAVtormet), the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has made a proposal to increase the export duty on steel scrap to 200 euros per ton.
In October, the government also prepared a project that showed that Ukraine could completely ban the export of scrap steel by 2030.
The association said that if the country does not take measures to control the export of scrap steel, they will face a supply shortage of approximately 500,000 tons.
