The US Department of Commerce (USDOC) has tentatively set subsidy rates for two South Korean hot rolled flat steel companies as part of an administrative countervailing duty (CVD) review. The period for consideration of this case is from January 1, 2019 to December 31, 2019.
An initial subsidy rate of 0.56% was set for Hyundai Steel. The same rate, based on the calculations used to determine Hyundai's rate, was applied to POSCO.
However, USDOC canceled DCE Inc., Dong Chuel America Inc., Dong Chuel Industrial Co., Ltd., Dongbu Incheon Steel Co., Ltd., Dongbu Steel Co., Ltd., Dongkuk Industries Co., Ltd., Dongkuk Steel Mill Co., Ltd., Hyewon Sni Corporation (HSI), JFE Shoji Trade Korea Ltd., POSCO Coated & Color Steel Co., Ltd., POSCO Daewoo Corporation, Soon Hong Trading Co., Ltd., and Sung-A Steel Co., Ltd.
The final results of the survey will be announced by USDOC in early March 2022.
