The EU is set to announce its final decision on the Waste Transport Regulation on 17 November. Some market players are of their own about what impact this will have on scrap exports, although it has been estimated that the EU will ban all scrap steel exports since then.
Cinzia Vezzosi, President of EuRIC, believes that all export restrictions should be introduced gradually, arguing that the EU does not currently have the industrial capacity to absorb all scrap exports.
The data showed that the EU is still the largest exporter of scrap steel in the world. After the ban on the export of scrap steel really comes into force in the future, Turkey will become the worst-hit country.
