Ukraine has decided to raise the export duty on ferrous scrap from the current 58 euros per tonne to 180 euros per tonne. The new duty will take effect at the beginning of 2022. The government will spend about a month making a parliamentary decision.

The market believed that the current export duty of Ukraine could not limit the export of scrap, since this duty was only 10% of market prices.
In the first ten months of this year, the export of scrap from Ukraine amounted to 515,000 tons, an increase of almost 16 times compared to the same period last year.
