Austrian steel group Voestalpine has announced that it is offering reduced CO2 output for all flat products produced by its steel division in Linz.
The metallurgical and technology group Voestalpine aims to produce climate-neutral steel by 2050. The first step in this direction is a new “green steel”, Trend portal reports. The company announced that it is offering a reduced CO2 release for all flat steel produced by its Linz subsidiary.
The products will be marketed under the Greentec Steel name and are part of the company's phased plan for long-term decarbonization of steel production. The company notes a 10% reduction in direct emissions from the production of these products compared to traditional production methods. He added that they are currently processing customer orders for products, with significant demand expected for low CO2 products such as hot rolled.
