According to the association of enterprises "Ukrmetallurgprom", as of January 12, 2022, out of the main operating metallurgical capacities, 5 out of 15 electric furnaces were in operation.
Also involved in the production of steel were 17 out of 21 blast furnaces, 7 out of 8 open-hearth furnaces, 12 out of 16 converters, 5 out of 15 electric furnaces and 16 out of 17 continuous casting machines.
The association noted an increase in the supply of scrap metal to Ukrainian metallurgical plants in 2021 by 33.7% to 3,916 thousand tons, of which 3,300 thousand tons were supplied to Ukrainian consumers as imported.
The export of scrap metal from Ukraine in January-December 2021 amounted to 616 thousand tons (1,711% compared to the same period in 2020).
It is noted that the consumption of natural gas by the Ukrainian metallurgical industry decreased by 1.6% compared to 2020, against the backdrop of an increase in electricity consumption by 2.8%.
