Russia's leading steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works - MMK has selected Danieli Centro Combustion technology to supply four reheat furnaces for flat rolling mill #10 in Magnitogorsk, Russia.
The capacity of each heating furnace will be 465 tons of slabs per hour.
The new furnaces, which will replace four existing ones, will ensure high quality and reliability of slab heating.
Fuel consumption will decrease and energy savings will be up to 15%.
The furnaces will be fitted with new generation flameless burners that will improve material yield and significantly reduce NOx emissions to the atmosphere.
Advanced process control and patented reheat optimization models will guide furnace operation.
The first furnace will be put into operation in 2023, and the fourth in 2026.
Pavel Shilyaev, General Director of MMK, commented: “Today we have taken another important step in the implementation of MMK's investment program aimed, in particular, at improving the quality of flat products produced. The new technologies applied will allow us to reduce operating costs and NOx emissions, which will significantly reduce our environmental impact.”
The signing ceremony took place at the Italian Embassy in Moscow.
The cost of the project is approx. 110 million euros.
