Zaporizhstal removes equipment from mothballing and partially resumes production

The Metinvest Group of Rinat Akhmetov and Vadim Novinsky has decided to partially withdraw Zaporizhstal divisions from the hot conservation regime.

Zaporizhstal of Metinvest Group has started to inflate blast furnaces No. 3 and 4. Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia Oleksandr Kamyshin, as well as people's deputies of Ukraine attended the launch of blast furnace production.

“We believe in Ukraine and we know what the state needs today – the revival of the national economy. Gradually we resume production and do everything necessary to earn at full capacity. In Zaporozhye, production processes have already been partially restored at Zaporizhkoks, Zaporozhogneupor and ZLMZ. Zaporizhstal is also coming back to life. We are ready to work and fight back the enemies with our main weapon – peaceful labor,” said Alexander Mironenko, General Director of Zaporizhstal.

According to the roadmap for the reactivation of production, the Zaporizhstal plant of Metinvest Group partially brought the sinter plant out of the hot conservation mode. Three out of six sinter machines for the production of sinter were launched. In the blast furnace shop, two out of four blast furnaces, blast furnaces No. 3 and 4, went into operation at reduced parameters. Accordingly, along with the restoration of the production process, aspiration plants for the sintering blast furnace were put into operation, which was preceded by a complete maintenance of environmental units.

To ensure the stability of the production process, transport, energy, engineering and other auxiliary divisions of the plant work. Gradually, with the production of pig iron at blast furnaces, the following links in the production chain will be put into operation: a steel-smelting furnace, a slabbing mill-1150, rolling mills of the hot and cold rolling shop.

Work shifts for Zaporizhstal employees have been adjusted to take into account the curfew. The enterprise provides centralized transportation of workers by corporate transport. In the event of an emergency situation, employees at the enterprise are provided with unhindered access to safe shelters, which are equipped with the necessary provisions, medicines and communications.
