U.S. crude steel production for the week ended April 2 was 1.724 million tonnes, down 0.1% from the same period a week earlier, and down 3.5%, according to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI). compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 79.3%, down 0.1% from the previous week and up 0.5% year on year.
As of the week ended April 2, year-to-date adjusted US steel production was 22.911 million tonnes, down 0.4% from last year. The capacity utilization rate was 80.2%, an increase of 3.1% compared to the previous year.
