A special economic zone (SEZ) "Green Steel" will appear on the territory of the Stary Oskol urban district of the Belgorod region, the press service of the regional government reports.
The implementation of the project provides for the investment of more than 212 billion rubles of investments and the creation of about 900 new high-tech jobs.
"All conditions will be created here for the implementation of an investment project to create a new mining and metallurgical production. It is planned to build an ore beneficiation plant, a pelletizing plant and a workshop for the production of hot briquetted iron," the report says.
The application for the creation of a SEZ in the Belgorod region was submitted to the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation at the end of April.
"The name of the special economic zone is "Green Steel". The course towards the development of the principles of the "green economy" is not only the opportunity to implement ambitious investment projects, but also a careful attitude to the preservation of the environment. At the same time, the emphasis on "green" metallurgy is due to current development requirements this industry, which is one of the priorities for the Belgorod region," the press release notes.
As reported, last year the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum signed agreements of intent for more than 200 billion rubles with Metalloinvest and Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works, which intend to become residents of the SEZ.
