The EU has banned the import of iron, steel and coal from Russia (since mid-August 2022), as well as cement, rubber, timber, seafood and alcohol. The United States banned the supply of oil and petroleum products, LNG, seafood and diamonds. The UK has imposed restrictions on imports from Russia of wood products, caviar, diamonds, rubber (including through tariff barriers).
In addition, restrictions against a number of persons affect Russian exports, for example, due to sanctions against Alexei Mordashov, Severstal stopped deliveries to the EU, as well as restrictions on transportation. Thus, the EU banned Russian ships from entering their ports, and Russian trucks from moving through the territory of the countries that are members of the union.
Trade with the G7 countries accounts for 25% of Russia's total foreign trade: 22% of total exports and 28% of imports. Trade restrictions imposed by sanctioning countries do not apply to all exports, but only to a part of it, respectively, the other part is still governed by international trade rules. Bans and other quantitative restrictions directly affect about 20% of Russian exports. The main problem with the implementation of deliveries lies in the plane of restrictions on transportation and payments.
