According to statistics released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), Turkey's steel production in April this year was 3.4 million tons, up 1.6% from the same month last year.
In the first four months of this year, Turkey's crude steel production was 12.8 million tons, down 3.2% from last year. The drop in crude oil production was due to rising energy prices, renovation work at some large steel mills in Turkey and reduced winter demand, which affected output in the first quarter.
However, investments in new steel mills in Turkey announced in 2021 could boost Turkish steel production by 2023 well beyond 40 million tons.
