According to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers Association (TCUD), Turkey's steel production in April this year stood at 3.4 million tons, up 1.6% from the same month last year. Crude steel production from January to April was 12.8 million tons, down 3.2% year on year.
In April, steel exports from Turkey decreased by 12.1% to 1.4 million tons, while the value of exports increased by 18.1% to $1.4 billion year on year. Turkey's steel imports fell nearly 18% to 1.3 million tonnes in April, while the value of imports increased 11.2% to $1.4 billion year on year.
In the first four months of this year, Turkish steel exports amounted to 5.7 million tons, down 0.5% compared to the same period last year; export value reached US$5.4 billion, up 39.3% year on year. Meanwhile, Turkey's steel imports fell 4.7% to 5.3 million tons, while the value of imports rose 35.7% to $5.7 billion year on year.
